Agriculture, Maintainer Week, and Developer Survey

A recent article from Opensource.com highlights several key developments in the open source community. These include the launch of a new foundation focused on agriculture, a week of events celebrating open source maintainers, and the opening of a major annual developer survey.
The Linux Foundation has launched the AgStack Foundation, a new open source project aimed at promoting the use of open source infrastructure in global agriculture. The goal of this initiative is to reduce the reliance on proprietary systems and to scale up the availability of free tools for tasks such as predicting pests and managing harvests.
In a collaboration between GitHub and Tidelift, the open source community is celebrating Maintainer Week from June 7-12. This week of free virtual events is dedicated to honoring the work of open source maintainers and includes events such as Upstream, the Global Maintainer Summit, and a Maintainer Spotlight on the Changelog podcast.
Finally, the 2021 Stack Overflow Developer Survey is now open for submissions until June 25. This year, the survey will include questions about how the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the work lives of developers, with a focus on topics like remote work and virtual collaboration. This is in addition to the survey’s traditional questions about programming languages and other developer-related topics.
