Starlink Suffers Another Temporary Service Interruption: Here’s What We Know So Far

The Starlink satellite internet system, operated by SpaceX, appears to have experienced another disruption, approximately one week after an outage that rendered the service inoperable for several hours.

On Thursday, users of the service on platforms such as Reddit and Facebook reported connection issues across various locations within the United States. One user on Reddit lamented, “Out for me again too. Not great for a WFH [work from home].” Downdetector.com indicates that outage reports peaked around 1 p.m. Pacific Time, although SpaceX has yet to respond to a request for comment. The subsequent decline in reported outages on Downdetector suggests that the company may have implemented a solution.

This recent disruption occurred on the same day and around the same time as last week’s widespread Starlink outage, which caused global access to be unavailable for nearly three hours. In certain instances, customers reported that the outage persisted into the subsequent day.

The satellite internet service currently caters to over 6 million customers, many of whom are based in rural and remote areas. Any disruptions could potentially leave numerous consumers and businesses without an alternative high-speed service.

Last week’s outage was attributed by SpaceX to a network upgrade that involved deploying software updates to the company’s ground-based “compute clusters” for managing traffic within the satellite internet system. At the time, the company recommended power cycling and rebooting all Starlink and third-party equipment for users experiencing trouble connecting following the outage on July 24th, 2025.
