Fujifilm Camera Prices Set to Increase by Up to $800 Due to Implemented Tariffs

In response to the imposition of a 15% tariff on imports from Japan by the Trump administration, Fujifilm has announced price increases across its US camera and lens range, effective August 1. Notably, third-party retailers may experience some delay in updating their costs.

This adjustment follows an earlier introduction of a 10% baseline import tariff levy in April. As reported by PetaPixel, the rise in prices from Fujifilm is indicative of the industry-wide margin squeeze on cameras and lenses, with further increases likely to follow.

Changes in pricing vary by model, but generally fall within the 10% to 15% range, translating to significant sums in certain instances. For example, the Fujifilm X100VI, popular for its ability to replicate retro film style on social media platforms like TikTok, has seen a 12.5% increase from $1,599.95 to $1,799.95. The high-end GFX100 II Body now costs $800 more, rising from $7,499 to $8,299. The X-T5, one of the company’s most popular consumer models, has experienced a $200 increase, climbing from $1,699 to $1,899.

The consumer-focused X‑S20 has seen the largest relative increase, jumping 15% from $1,299 to $1,499.

In an effort to mitigate the impact of tariffs on its operations, Fujifilm has relocated much of its manufacturing from China to Japan this year.

The camera industry is not alone in experiencing price increases due to tariffs. Fellow Japanese hardware giant Nintendo recently raised the price of the original Switch console and select Switch 2 accessories, citing “market conditions.” Experts advise US consumers to stock up on foreign-made 3D printers ahead of anticipated price rises later this year.
