Exclusive: Apple Reportedly Developing AI ‘Answer Engine’ to Rival Google Search

Apple is reportedly establishing a new team, codenamed Answers, Knowledge, and Information, with the objective of developing an application akin to ChatGPT. This endeavor aims to create an “answer engine” capable of responding to user queries by drawing from diverse sources across the internet. The potential application could function as a standalone product or integrate search functionality into existing Apple offerings such as Siri, Safari, and various other Apple-branded services.

According to Mark Gurman’s report in Bloomberg, Apple is actively seeking talent with expertise in search algorithm development and engine creation for positions within this team. Notably, while ChatGPT has already been integrated into Siri, Apple has faced repeated delays in implementing a more personalized, AI-driven update to its voice assistant.

Furthermore, Apple may need to reassess its existing search partnership with Google, following Google’s recent antitrust ruling. This potential shift could have significant implications for the integration of search services within Apple’s expansive suite of products.
