Apple Commits Additional $100 Billion to U.S. Manufacturing amid Tariff Threat

Apple is set to significantly bolster its domestic manufacturing efforts, as confirmed by a White House official and initially reported by Reuters.
The tech titan will announce on Wednesday an additional $100 billion investment aimed at enhancing production of its products within the United States. This commitment follows an earlier pledge to invest $500 billion in the country over the next four years. The initial commitment encompasses the establishment of a cutting-edge manufacturing facility in Houston for server production, the creation of Apple TV+ content in 20 U.S. states, and collaborations with domestic suppliers.
The announcement arrives amid President Trump’s threats to impose tariffs on Apple unless it increases its U.S. manufacturing presence, moving production away from Asia.
Apple, which predominantly manufactures its devices in India, China, and Vietnam, has already felt the impact of tariffs. In June alone, the company reported $800 million in tariff-related expenses, with expectations to spend an additional $1.1 billion in the subsequent quarter, according to CEO Tim Cook during a recent earnings call.
