Apple’s iOS 26 Beta 6 Unveils Surprise Ringtone Options, Settles Camera App Controversy, and Introduces New Onboarding Experience

In a recent development, Apple has unveiled the sixth developer beta of its upcoming mobile operating system, iOS 26. Alongside this release, updates for iPadOS, watchOS, tvOS, macOS, and other platforms were also announced. As the software nears its anticipated September launch, key modifications and enhancements are emerging, albeit not as substantial as previous iterations.
Among the notable changes in iOS 26 beta 6 is a selection of half a dozen fresh ringtones, all derivatives of the popular “reflection” tune, that have generated buzz on social media platforms. The standout ringtone, titled “Dreamer,” has been praised for its dynamic and engaging qualities, with users describing it as “hard-hitting,” “exceptionally good,” and a “bop.” This new addition could potentially entice more users to reconsider their silent mode preferences.
Another significant update concerns the iOS Camera app, which has faced controversy due to a revised touch response mechanism in prior betas. Users reported that this change disrupts muscle memory, as the swipe gesture now moves in the opposite direction compared to other native Apple apps. In response to user feedback, beta 5 introduced a new Settings toggle allowing users to revert to the original functionality. However, in an unexpected move, beta 6 has removed this toggle and reverted the scroll direction back to its original state.
Other improvements in iOS 26 beta 6 include faster transitions, new launch and close animations for applications, and ongoing refinements to Liquid Glass, Apple’s updated user interface. Notable changes to Liquid Glass in this release include increased color dispersion when navigating between an app’s tabs using the magnifying glass-like selector, as well as the introduction of Liquid Glass effects on the Lock Screen and toggles.
Upon updating the OS, users will notice a revamped startup/onboarding experience showcasing Liquid Glass and other iOS 26 features, such as dark and clear icons, redesigned interfaces in various apps, and more. As with any beta release, users may encounter bugs, but feedback suggests that this version feels more stable and notably faster than previous iterations, indicating a potentially imminent public launch.
Following the developer beta rollout, those testing the public beta can expect an update soon.
