Apple Rumored to Integrate Google’s AI-Powered Search in Upgraded Siri for Improved Competitiveness

Apple’s forthcoming revamp of Siri may incorporate an AI-driven web search tool, potentially powered by technology derived from Google’s Gemini, according to recent reports. The tech giant, which has faced criticism for lagging behind in the artificial intelligence race, has postponed the launch of its much-anticipated Siri upgrade until 2026.
In the interim, the company is actively exploring whether its self-developed AI models can deliver a competitive edge, comparable to the AI answer engines currently offered by industry leaders such as OpenAI, Perplexity, and Google.
As per reports from Bloomberg, Apple might be looking to Google for a potential solution to these challenges. The agreement between the two tech giants reportedly involves Apple testing Google’s AI model within Siri. If successful, this technology could also find application in other aspects of iPhone software, including the Safari browser and Spotlight search, which is accessible on the Home Screen.
Previously, Spotlight appeared to be positioning itself as a competitor to Google, allowing iOS users to bypass traditional web searches to obtain basic information about popular topics like actors, musicians, TV shows, movies, and more. However, with the advent of AI chatbots, consumers can now access rapid responses on an extensive range of topics that extend beyond those found on Wikipedia.
The revamped search experience is said to feature a combination of text, images, videos, local points of interest, and an AI-driven summarization tool. It will also have the capability to leverage users’ personal data and facilitate navigation of their devices via voice.
