Cyberattack Halts Jaguar Land Rover Production and Sales: Major U.K. Employer Faces Weeks-Long Recovery After Data Breach

Multinational automobile manufacturer, headquartered in the United Kingdom, reported on Wednesday that an unspecified amount of data was stolen during a cyberattack. This incident has resulted in a halt of vehicle assembly lines.

In a statement released yesterday, the company acknowledged that “certain data” was compromised in the attack. As per U.K. regulations, businesses are required to inform the Information Commissioner’s Office within three days of detecting a data breach; it remains undisclosed whether the stolen data pertains to the company, its employees, or customers.

On September 2, the carmaker announced the cyberattack, revealing that the incident necessitated the shutdown of their systems, resulting in significant disruptions to both production and sales operations. The attack is also impacting supply chains, including vehicle repairs.

With over 33,000 employees, this company ranks among the largest employers in the U.K. Reports suggest that government officials are expressing concerns about the potential economic implications of the breach, with recovery expected to span several weeks rather than days.
