Worker Injured: Elon Musk’s Boring Company Pauses Tunnel Construction to Las Vegas Airport Amid OSHA Investigation

The tunneling operations of Elon Musk’s venture, The Boring Company, have allegedly been halted following a workplace incident at the Las Vegas airport tunnel site. As reported by Fortune, a worker experienced a severe injury on Wednesday night, leading to an investigation by Nevada’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
At approximately 10:12 p.m. local time, authorities received a distress call and dispatched an 18-strong rescue team to the scene. Details regarding the nature of the worker’s injury are still unclear; however, it is known that the individual was extricated from the site by local firefighters who utilized an on-site crane. Fortune reports that the worker’s condition is currently stable.
The Boring Company has been actively digging tunnels to link the Las Vegas Convention Center with several nearby hotel casinos for several years now. This underground transportation system has facilitated over 3 million rides across its 3.5-mile operational network. The company harbors ambitious plans to extend this tunnel network across virtually all of Las Vegas, including the airport.
However, multiple workers have reported injuries during the construction phase, and even the former safety manager for the Las Vegas project has raised concerns about the hazardous conditions at these sites in public statements.
