Dozen New York Officials Arrested During Protests Against Immigration Detention Conditions

More than a dozen New York state and city elected officials were arrested yesterday at three locations: 26 Federal Plaza, the Manhattan immigration court, and an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) field office. The arrests occurred as officials attempted to gain entry to a 10th-floor detention facility, following recent court rulings that prohibited ICE from confining immigrants in overcrowded and unsanitary conditions, including a temporary restraining order.
