We are generally supportive of AI being used to alleviate traffic congestion or expedite cancer detection, as we can clearly see the benefits for ourselves. However, when presented with AI monitoring employee performance or employing it to target political advertisements, public sentiment turns sour. Acceptance rates plummet in these scenarios, indicating that our concerns revolve more around AI’s purpose than its growth itself.
We desire assurances that AI is being employed ethically and that regulations exist to prevent tech giants from wielding unrestrained power over the technology.
