Stellantis Confirms Data Breach: 18 Million Customer Records Stolen from Salesforce Database

Automotive conglomerate Stellantis, which encompasses brands like Chrysler, Fiat, Jeep, Dodge, and Ram, among others, has acknowledged a security incident involving customer personal data.

In an official statement issued on Sunday, the company disclosed that there was unauthorized access to a third-party service provider’s platform supporting its North American customer service operations.

The statement indicated that contact information was compromised, but Stellantis declined to elaborate on the specific types of customer data involved in the security breach when contacted by media outlets. The company has yet to disclose how many customers are affected.

According to Bleeping Computer, the Stellantis data breach is believed to be linked to an intrusion into its Salesforce database, with the ShinyHunters hackers claiming responsibility for the incident. Reports suggest that approximately 18 million customer records were stolen from the database.

Stellantis joins a growing list of companies, including Cloudflare, Google, and Proofpoint, who have experienced data theft in a recent breach affecting Salesloft Drift, and another extensive list of companies whose data was compromised from their Salesforce instances.
