US Department of Homeland Security Under Fire for Collecting DNA Data of Nearly 2,000 Citizens, Including Minors

In a striking revelation this week, it’s been uncovered that the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has amassed DNA profiles of nearly 2,000 American citizens over the past few years. This accumulation has sparked concerns regarding legal bounds and oversight, particularly given that these genetic records are being integrated into the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) crime database. The dataset includes DNA samples from U.S. citizens as young as 14 years old.
