DOGE Developing AI Tool for Streamlining Federal Regulations

DOGE Developing AI Tool for Streamlining Federal Regulations

The Department of Government Efficiency, as reported by The Washington Post, aims to leverage a cutting-edge AI tool, the DOGE AI Deregulation Decision Tool, to scrutinize approximately 200,000 federal regulations with the objective of identifying and eliminating regulations no longer legally mandated. The ambition is to reduce the regulatory burden by half within the first year following President Donald Trump’s second term inauguration.

According to a PowerPoint presentation dated July 1, the tool has already been employed for reviewing regulations at the Department of Housing and Urban Development and for drafting “100% of deregulations” at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

It is noted that while no definitive plan has received approval or greenlight as of yet, a White House spokesperson commended the DOGE team for being composed of some of the most talented and skilled professionals in their respective fields.

This development marks another advancement in AI applications by DOGE, an entity led during the early months of the Trump administration by Elon Musk. Previously, it was reported that DOGE had developed an AI tool with error-prone capabilities, capable of misconstruing the size of contracts within the Department of Veterans Affairs.
