Meta Aims for ‘Personal Superintelligence’: Zuckerberg Announces Significant Progress in AI Development, Poaching Top Talent and Acquiring Startups

Meta Corporation, spearheaded by CEO Mark Zuckerberg, has escalated its artificial intelligence (AI) aspirations over the past few months, attracting top talent from industry rivals and acquiring AI startups as part of an ambitious mission to create what Zuckerberg refers to as “superintelligence.”
In a statement titled ‘Personal Superintelligence,’ Zuckerberg asserted that the development of superintelligence is now within reach. This declaration precedes Meta’s second-quarter earnings, underscoring a significant milestone in the company’s relentless pursuit of AI innovation.
The corporation has been augmenting its superintelligence labs team with engineers from prominent tech companies such as Apple and GitHub, while simultaneously investing substantially in the essential infrastructure required to support such ambitious projects.
According to reports by The Guardian, Zuckerberg stated that “over the last few months we have begun to see glimpses of our AI systems improving themselves.” He added that the progress is currently slow but undeniably evident.
Meta’s approach to developing superintelligence revolves around creating “personal superintelligence that empowers everyone,” as outlined in the company’s statement. Zuckerberg believes that in the coming years, AI will enhance all existing systems and catalyze the creation of new, unforeseen advancements.
However, he poses a thought-provoking question: what direction will superintelligence be directed? In his memo, Zuckerberg contends that this era could represent both a new epoch for humanity and a continuation of historical trends.
