Google Launches Experimental App for Windows: Instant Search Across Files, Apps, Web, and More with Google Lens Integration

Google unveiled a novel experimental application for Windows on Tuesday, aimed at expediting user searches. This innovative tool allows individuals to utilize the shortcut Alt + Space to instantly search through their computer files, applications installed, Google Drive documents, and the web.
The search bar operates in a manner similar to macOS’s Spotlight search, enabling users to swiftly locate items on their device and across the internet.
This latest offering is accessible via Search Labs, Google’s program for testing early-stage features and gathering user feedback prior to widespread release.
Incorporating Google Lens, the app enables users to select and search any content displayed on their screen. This functionality empowers users to perform tasks such as translating images or text swiftly, seeking help with math problems, and more. Furthermore, users can access in-depth responses via Google’s AI Mode, a feature that allows complex, multi-part questions to be posed through an AI interface.
Users have the flexibility to toggle between various result categories, including all results, AI mode, images, shopping, videos, and more. Additionally, they can switch to dark mode.
As of now, the application is available in English and for users residing in the United States. A PC running Windows 10 or a later version is necessary for access.
